Application Of Vinyl Resin In Industrial Coatings

Vinyl Resin is a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, also known as the primary state of the vinyl chloride polymer. The customs code is HS3904300000. The industrial coatings means can coating inside, car refinishing coating, Automobile original paint, coil coating, marine paint, packaging coating (soft and hard), plastic coating, powder coating and wood coating etc.

Because vinyl resin generally has high dispersibility to pigment, excellent film formation and solvent releasing, flexibility, high abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, fire resistance, good solubility, processing and extensive applicability. So the vinyl resin is the preferred bonding resin for industrial coatings.

Vinyl resin without functional groups has good adhesion for PVC and PVC based material, it can be used for PVC toy paints, PVC ink, PU synthetic leather surface treatment agent etc. Such as: MLC14-55, LC - 40 system. Vinyl acetate content in 30-40% of the vinyl resin can be completely ester soluble, with the lowest glass transition temperature among the vinyl resins, with the best flexibility, can be used to produce high elastic coating. PU compounding ink is suitable for the base material in high flexibility. Used with PVC resins or other vinyl co-polymers, it can be used as an internal plasticity in the plastic processing field, such as LC-40.

Vinyl Chloride and Vinyl Acetate Copolymers Resins with functional groups are usually characterized by functional group of hydroxyl or carboxyl. Vinyl resin with carboxyl functional group is polymerized with vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and dicarboxylic acid terpolymer. Vinyl resin with carboxyl group has excellent adhesion on metal, its paint film has good adhesion for surface treatment on tin, aluminum foil, aluminum laminated film, PVC, ABS, paper, concrete, acrylic acid of PE, OPP, at the same time, it has acid, alkali, and salt solution resistance, and with the wettability and low water absorbability. Therefore, it is hot stamping foil adhesive, heat sealing lacquer in pharmaceutical packagings, can coating, plastic home appliance coating,UV primer coating for mobile phone keypad, anti-corrosion coating, Coil nails and ship coating etc. Applicable grades: carboxyl modified terpolymer MVAM, VMC, HVAMA, maleic anhydride modified terpolymer VAM VMA VAMA.

Vinyl resin with hydroxyl modified functional group is complymized with vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and vinyl alcohol or hydroxyalkyl acrylate. Due to its hydroxyl functional group, it has excellent pigment dispersion, color developing and good compatibility, it is used together with PU resin, alkyd resin, epoxy resin, urea resin, aldehyde ketone resin, melamine resin, acrylic resin etc, to take full advantage of different types of the resins. Modified alkyd resin system can improve the film forming, solvent releasing, chemical-resistance, persistent flexibility and water resistance,it is mainly used in matt furniture coating system. The combination with PU polyurethane resin increases the dispersing and spreading wettability of pigments, improves the film formation and solvent release of PU system, and enhances the composite strength of ink. In urea-formaldehyde resin coatings, cracking tendency can be reduced, even if the coatings have high content of urea-formaldehyde resin and extremely high solid content. Hydroxyl modified vinyl resin can be used alone or in combination with other polyols in bicomponent polyurethane coatings such as PG-HC, MVAH, MVAH-W and MTA5R.
