5. Photosensitive vinyl resin

Because the unsaturated double bond in the vinyl resin is at the end of the molecular chain, due to its high activity, it is also equipped with a molecular design. The vinyl resin is added with a photoinitiator (such as benzoquinone, benzoin ether, etc.) to absorb ultraviolet energy and transfer it to the resin system to polymerize and cure the vinyl resin.

Such resins can be used in printing, photosensitive inks, etc., used as photosensitive coatings in the paint industry, and used as photoresist films on PCBs in the radio industry. In addition, in the pultrusion process, if a photosensitive vinyl resin is used, the pultrusion speed can be greatly improved. For example, in the optical cable core pultrusion process, the speed can reach 10 m / min.

6. Air-drying

Vinyl ester resin is the same as unsaturated polyester resin. When curing at room temperature, the surface of the product is sticky, which brings inconvenience to the application. The main reason is that the oxygen in the air participates in the polymerization of the vinyl ester resin surface. To overcome this shortcoming, researchers have developed a variety of effective methods. One of them is to synthesize an air-drying vinyl ester resin by inserting an allyl ether (CH2 = CH-CH2-O-) group into the structure of the vinyl ester resin. This resin is suitable for making high-grade air-drying gel coats, coatings and cover materials.

It is worth noting that the content of allyl ether in the resin has a suitable value. If it is too small, the resin will not absorb oxygen well.

7. Low styrene volatility technology

Good solubility property vinyl resin generally contains about 35% of styrene monomer, and the vapor pressure of styrene is low. Therefore, in hand lay-up molding and spray molding, the resin is layered on the open mold layer by layer, especially spray molding. Part of the resin is misty, so before the resin is fully cured, styrene is continuously volatilized from the resin. This will not only cause styrene loss, but also pollute the environment and cause health damage to workers. Increased the requirements for the styrene threshold value (TLV), so for unsaturated resins using styrene as the diluting monomer, including vinyl resins, we must strive to find a low styrene volatilization technology (LSE) to solve this problem, Originally, some manufacturers and countries used the addition of paraffin as a volatilization inhibitor, but it is easy to cause delamination between the layers. However, the development trend in the early 21st century is: one is to use an adhesion promoter compound, which can be acrylic acid, With 2 hydrocarbon groups (hydrophobic ether or ester containing double bonds), etc.; the second is the use of monomers with relatively high vapor pressure, such as methylstyrene or vinyl toluene; the third is the separation Structure, etc., or shorten the main chain molecule while maintaining the overall performance to reduce the amount of styrene, or introduce other groups or segments on the molecular segment to make the molecular interaction within the resin Further reduce the volatilization of styrene. This technology can be widely used in resin gel coats, insulation applications, etc., especially in high temperature molding insulation applications.

8. Variety of vinyl resin

Currently, new grade vinyl resins have been successfully used in a large number of anti-corrosion applications, including corrosion-resistant FRP production and anti-corrosion projects, due to their good corrosion resistance and improved process characteristics. When manufacturing composite materials with mechanical properties, currently domestic and foreign customers can only choose epoxy vinyl resin, which actually causes waste in resin application or design. Therefore, some manufacturers at home and abroad are trying to find a way to maintain vinyl resin. New materials with reasonable mechanical properties and reasonable cost. Some companies have introduced a new type of high-performance unsaturated resin in a timely manner through new research and development, called vinyl polyester resin. This resin combines the characteristics of vinyl ester resin and universal unsaturated resin, so that users have more choices.
